Holiday Gifts for Writers & Readers under $10

I've been doing some digging around for gifts for my secret santa swap and I thought I'd share some of the stuff I found for under $10.
It's no secret that writers are readers, and books about writing are highly revered. My favorite, Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life can be had for $8.87 new, or a used copy can be yours to give for only $1.97!

Popular writing book Stephen King's On Writing is not available new on Amazon, but used copies are just $2.16.

On the editing side of things, Betsy Lerner's The Forest for the Trees (Revised and Updated): An Editor's Advice to Writers is a good one, and can be bought new for $10 flat, or used (like new) from $2.48!

You can sniff around and see which books your recipient is looking forward to, and pick that up too. Some pre-orders are dropping below $10, and even if the price goes up later, as long as you "buy" it at the lower price, you'll always pay the lowest price.

Laptop Cases are handy for writers that like to take their work to libraries, bookstores, coffee shops, and anywhere else that's different enough to spark up the muse. One Size Cases are available for $6.99 and up.

Blank books and journals are also great. Amazon has them from just $2, but you can find composition books and notepads at your local dollar store. Etsy has these cute upcycled Cap'n Crunch notebooks for just $6 and this amazing Airmail notebook that perfect for purses and pockets at just 5x5" and it's only $8. And I totally covet this Ravenclaw journal that's only $7.

Also for Harry Potter fans, there this Platform 3/4 necklace that's $8.50.

If you're the crafty type, you can get a packet of 25 vintage library cards for $5 and use them for crafting, or to frame. What a cute bit of inspiration that would be tucked into a cute desk frame!

Etsy also has these amazing laser-cut acrylic READ necklaces for $8.50

Office supplies are always in demand, from pens and pencils, folders, filing supplies, organizer boxes, paperclips, staples and staplers, mailing supplies, books of stamps, printer paper, printer ink, etc. Sometimes it's those little overlooked things that can be the most appreciated.

On the practical side, every writer needs at least one flash drive as backup. There's nothing worse than losing hard-fought words to a computer glitch. There are loads of 4GB and even 8 and 16 GB flash drives  in the black friday sales ads. Even just a small $5 1GB flash drive is enough to hold a couple of manuscripts.

And I don't know anyone that wouldn't love a $10 gift card to their favorite bookstore, office supply store, or coffee shop.
