Holiday Gifts for Writers & Readers: ULTIMATE EDITION

Over the last week, I've been featuring gifts for writers and readers under $10, under $25, under $100 and now that we're all shopped out from black friday, small business saturday, and cyber monday, what's left but to have a writers and readers ultimate wish list?

I think the most-requested thing would be a large library, so stuffed with books that it needs to be two levels with ladders and dark wood and... yeah.

Then maybe tuition for an english degree, and/or an MFA. And bills to be paid for the 1-3 years during the program so that you don't have to work and can spend all day writing.

And maybe all the bills to always be paid, so everyday for the rest of your life can be spent writing.

And along those lines, let's add a book deal. Maybe even a multiple book deal. Several of them. With high advances and HUGE sales. And lots of lovely fans.

And to do the writing on, a new laptop, filled with Scrivener and all those lovely writing apps that cost a lot like Word, Adobe PRO for making .pdfs, and InDesign for book design.

How about a bajillion frequent flyer miles so we can travel to any location for book research. Better yet, a private plane so we don't have to deal with the teeny plane seats.

And maybe a writers commune house where all our writer friends can come and spend time writing and gardening and drinking wine and making lots of memories.

And maybe that house is totally green and off the grid too. If there are no money limits, that can be done, right?

And maybe that house has lots of nooks and crannies and hidden passages and spaces to write or curl up with a book.

And just for good measure, it has a pool too. And a nice workout room.  And a fenced-in yard so MolliePup can run free...

Ahem.

It'd also be nice to not have to worry about my truck not starting, or health care costs. You can't put a price on good health. So maybe we'll also throw in a personal chef while were at it, one that's good with making healthy food in healthy ways that taste great.

I know I'd buy a bazillion of those Charlie Brown books and give them to all the military kids with parents overseas fighting for our freedom and even pay the costs for them to ship them over for Christmas. Those commercials just kill me.

And I'd totally help be Santa for as many kids as possible and donate lots of toys to Toys For Tots. That commercial kills me too. It made my aunt cry this morning when she saw it.

And of course a hefty donation to the Humane Society will need to be made. Perhaps with a nice yard and more space and no worries about affording kibble, MolliePup might be able to get a couple of new rescued friends that can come and stay forever.

If there weren't any money concerns, what would be on your ultimate wish list?
